Safety

The site only puts people in touch and is not responsible for what they arrange between themselves (see the terms of use). It does not check anyone's identity, or cars, or homes. Each person decides who they travel with and who they host. These tips help you do that with peace of mind.

For everyone

  • Arrange everything in writing on WhatsApp: day, time, meeting point, luggage and house rules.
  • The site does not receive payments or act as an intermediary for them. If you agree to share costs, settle it in writing and never pay in advance to someone you do not know.
  • Never pass on codes you receive by SMS or WhatsApp. This is the most common scam for stealing accounts.
  • Meet in a busy public place. Share the address only at the end, on WhatsApp.
  • Tell someone you trust who you are going with, which car or address it is, and the times. Share your location during the trip.
  • If in doubt, pull out and let the other person know.

On a ride

  • Whoever drives: valid driving licence, up-to-date insurance, zero alcohol and one seat belt per person.
  • Whoever rides: check the name, car and number plate before getting in, and have a plan B, such as a train or bus.
  • In the early hours of 25 October, Europe ends summer time and the clocks go back one hour. Double-check the agreed time.

During a stay

  • Whoever hosts: agree on the rules beforehand, let the people you live with know, and put valuables away.
  • Whoever stays: confirm the address and who else is in the home, and have a plan B for somewhere to sleep.

To vote

  • Bring an official photo ID. The e-Título with a photo is also accepted. Keep it on you, not in your luggage.
  • Check the address of your polling station in the e-Título or on the website of the TSE (Brazil's Superior Electoral Court).
  • Polling stations open at 8:00 and close at 17:00, local time.

If something goes wrong

  • Report it using the "Report" button on the listing or at contato@votolafora.com.br.
  • If you are in danger, call 112 in the European Union, or the emergency number of the country where you are. The Brazilian consulate also handles emergencies.
