We ask for as little data as possible, we do not pass it on to anyone, and we delete everything by 15 November 2026. This policy follows the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Why we take extra care
Asking for or offering a ride or a place to stay shows that someone intends to vote, and data linked to electoral participation deserves special care. That is why we only keep data with your explicit consent, given in a dedicated checkbox on each form.
What data we use
- People offering: first name, email address and the listing details. The first name and the listing are public. The email address is never shown.
- People requesting a place: first name, WhatsApp number, number of people, message and, optionally, email address. Only the owner of the listing sees this data, and the WhatsApp number only after confirming the place.
- "Notify me": email address and city. Nobody else sees them.
- Technical data: an encoded summary of your IP address, to limit abuse, and Cloudflare's bot check. We never use your device's location.
- Banned accounts: if an account is banned for breaking the terms, we keep an encoded summary of its email address, only to prevent it from signing up again, until 15 November 2026 (legitimate interest in keeping the site safe).
What we use it for
- To publish listings, deliver requests and send the site's emails, with your consent (GDPR, Art. 6(1)(a) and Art. 9(2)(a)).
- To moderate and prevent scams and abuse, on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the site safe (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- To comply with the law, where it requires us to (Art. 6(1)(c)).
We never use your data for advertising, never sell it and never pass it on to any party, campaign or candidate. The emails contain no advertising and no tracking.
Who processes the data with us
- Supabase: database, in Paris.
- Vercel: website hosting, with functions in Paris.
- Resend: sending emails, from Ireland.
- Cloudflare: bot check.
- OpenFreeMap: map images, which your browser downloads directly from their servers.
These companies process the data only to provide the service. Whenever any data leaves the European Union, the transfer follows the safeguards of the GDPR.
Cookies
We only use the cookie needed to keep people offering logged in. There are no advertising or audience measurement cookies.
How long we keep it
- Unconfirmed "Notify me" sign-up: 48 hours. Confirmed: until the day after the election.
- IP address summary: 7 days.
- Everything else: until 15 November 2026.
Your rights
You can ask for access to, correction, deletion and portability of your data, object to a use of it and withdraw your consent at any time. Just write to contato@votolafora.com.br. We reply within one month, at no charge to you.
People offering can also delete their account in "My listings". People requesting can cancel their request using the cancellation link.
You can also complain to the CNIL, the French data protection authority, at www.cnil.fr.
Minors
The site is only for people aged 18 or over.
